One was the eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low from 2003 — which the Swoosh team designed a mere three pairs of.Nike SB is certainly no stranger to extremely rare, near unobtainable sneakers — most of which are Dunks, from the earliest joint effort with Supreme to the riot-causing crossover with Staple. The sub-label’s brief collaboration with eBay, however, is much more legendary, as two of the supposed three pairs produced were sawed into four separate parts. Fast forward almost two decades later and we’re now seeing the pieces put back together… literally.
This eBay x Nike SB Dunk Low will mirror the original as a white base is paired with eBay’s color scheme-themed patent leather overlays. However, the colorway will actually pay homage to the cut-up sample pair as invisible pieces (à la Nike Air Force 1 Low “Invisible Woman”) will be added to make up for the dismember aftermath.Falling along the overlays, Swooshes, tongue banners, interior liners and heels are accents of blue, red, yellow and green — all of which reference eBay’s signature logo. Additionally, the kicks appear with a segmented aesthetic as three sections of the shoe are separated by see-through panels. Branding atop the tongues and heels have been modified with skewed-to-the-left SB branding, the former swapping out its usual Dunk Low hit for a NIKESBFOREVER hashtag. Additionally, the insoles of the collaborative kicks are adorned with an image of Bodecker holding his child on the left shoe and a picture of him trying on the retro pair on the right.
